Navigating Nikki

Two Years. 23 Countries. One Backpack.

It all started when...

In 2011 left my job and my life in the U.S. to follow my dream of doing an independent, self-funded trip around the world. I traveled to over twenty countries in South America, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the South Pacific. It was a life changing experience, to say the least.

Highlights include hiking the world’s deepest canyon in Arequipa, Peru; camping and piranha fishing in the Amazon Rainforest; summiting Kilimanjaro in Tanzania—then getting Malaria (and making a video about it); learning Mysore Ashtanga Yoga in Mysore, India; drinking insane amounts of coconut water in Thailand; Canyoning in New Zealand; and cuddling with baby lions (and cheetahs) in South Africa.

I created an interactive website, NavigatingNikki, to impart more realistic, relatable depictions of the places I visited and to help other aspiring travelers plan their own journeys. 20,000 readers joined me.
